Congratulations to the nearly 4,000 students who kicked off the Vedic Math competition season with so much enthusiasm! Thank you for so patiently waiting for the final results. Scroll down to download the list.

And of course, we still have a couple of techniques for you--including one from the recent 4th MVMNC.

Combining partial sums

Did you get this question in the last competition?

If the carries are combined in 2/33/44, the result is 574. What would be the result of combining carries in 23/34/56/15?

You can solve this quickly with this technique.

How do we do that?

Multiplying by (x-a)

We're all about making math easier, and this technique makes multiplying polynomials much easier because we can have negative coefficients, and no rewriting is required.
